Everyone is stressed, fed up, and at their breaking point whether that is physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, socially, or for sure politically!! It’s not difficult to understand why mass shootings are on the rise. People are sick of being lied to and manipulated into value systems dictated by authorities, corporations and governments that care only about profit and not people and planet. But surely there has to be an alternative to purchasing an AK-47 to make a point and create change…and thankfully there is. You have a voice which is the only weapon that truly makes a difference and now is the time to use it.
Rosa Parks had a voice that she used one day on a bus. With basically one word, NO, she sparked the civil rights movement and was named “the mother of the freedom movement.” My favorite quote from here is this…”The only tired I was, was tired of giving in.” Don’t we all feel that way today!
Susan B. Anthony also had a voice that she used one day in court defending herself against a civil disobedience violation that she deemed unjust. Anthony refused to believe that simply because she was a woman she wasn’t allowed the same voting privileges as men stating that “Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.” making the point that all individuals have the responsibility to stand up to what is not of the highest and greatest good for all. Anthony later became president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association laying the groundwork for women’s rights to vote using the motto “Failure is Impossible!” And while it took decades to achieve, the task was accomplished.
Here is my point…
I could site many more cases of people using their voices to create change. I specifically site these two women because most of my clients and readership are women and I wanted to show you that in the past woman have been more than instrumental in sparking revolutions in behavior and thought…AND YOU CAN TOO! (Not that I’m discounting the men; this is a task we all face today.)
Across the board, our lives are in great transition. Simply put, the past can no longer continue and our lives and value systems are facing a major redefinition. Interestingly, Americans opted for change eight years ago but what we got were band aids and two more candidates unworthy of us. However, I would interject that government will never make the changes we need because change only comes from us… and luckily, in this country you still have a voice.
Why take up arms when you can simply say “NO.”
What are the demands and expectations in your life that are out of balance and in need of change? Are you being asked to work harder, spend less time with your loved ones and still not make enough money to get ahead? Is your health at risk due to your stress levels in trying to meet everyone’s demands? Are you being charged too much by your cable company, energy coop, cell phone provider, grocery story merchant, car dealership, housing market, government taxes…all the areas of life that are too expensive to maintain today? When is enough, enough? When do you start saying NO?
Start a revolution in your life. Stop agreeing to the things that are not right and not working for you. Tell your family NO to irrational demands, tell your boss NO to unrealistic expectations, tell your providers NO more expensive role-over charging. It’s that’s easy! If you do it, you set the example and empower others to do it too.
Remember, BE YOUR OWN HERO – USE YOUR WORDS – THEY ARE YOUR AMMO!
